Beach of Lagos
Meia Praia
A wide, sandy beach about 5 km long, east of the city of Lagos. This beach was named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world in 2002.
You can take a small boat from the waterfront or walk across the bridge at the marina. There are also regular buses from Lagos. The access is well signposted for drivers. There are enough parking spaces close to the beach.
An ideal beach for active beach walkers and families with small children. Even in high season there is enough space for everyone.
Praia Dona Ana, Praia Don Camilo, Praia Porto de Mos
These small but beautiful beaches near Lagos are characterized by their unique rock formations. These beaches are located directly next to the grottoes of the Ponta de Piedade. They are located on the cliffs of the Algarve and are small rocky bays that offer a fantastic ambience and invite you to sunbathe. The waves are very low due to the rocky crevices and the bay of Lagos and are therefore particularly suitable for snorkeling and diving, especially in summer.

The Algarve is home to the best beach in the world, Praia Dona Ana in Lagos.
Readers of Spanish travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler have voted Praia Dona Ana in Lagos as the world's best beach from a list of 50 beaches worldwide.
One of the main criteria for the award was the turquoise water, which shimmers in countless shades of color due to the natural condition of the bay.
The best Portuguese beaches are in the Algarve.
There are two other Algarve beaches on the list of the 50 best beaches in the world. The Praia do Armado on the west coast near Carrapateira reached 18th place, the Praia do Almão beach near Portimão made it to 46th place.

Ponta da Piedade
2 km south of Lagos, the cliffs protrude far into the Atlantic. The tip of this headland is called Ponta da Piedade.
A grotto landscape with bizarre rock formations, tunnels, gates and boulders scattered in the sea has formed on this stretch of coast, which is unique in the Algarve, which is already spoiled with natural beauty. You can descend to the rocky landscape via a staircase next to the lighthouse. The best way to appreciate all the beauty is to take a trip on a fishing boat through the caves. You can also find out what names the locals gave the individual rock sculptures. The boats depart from Lagos from the waterfront and from the small harbor next to the fort. From the 20m high cliffs you can see as far as Sagres in the west and the entire Bay of Lagos with Meia Praia in the east. Directly from the lighthouse, an easily accessible "hiking trail" leads on the cliffs to the beaches further west.
The Ponta da Piedade can be reached directly by car. Take Avenida dos Descobrimentos past the fort towards Sagres. Then you have to turn left at the second traffic light. The path is signposted. There are plenty of parking spaces in front of the lighthouse.
The city of Lagos is therefore the ideal starting point for a beach holiday in the Algarve for sun worshipers and beach vacationers.
